Families in Ottawa's rural south can face long drives to reach services. With mobile OT, the therapist comes to you.

Communities we visit

We see families in and around:

  • Manotick village and the surrounding area along the Rideau River

  • Greely and its nearby subdivisions

Families in other rural communities south of Ottawa, such as North Gower, Osgoode or Metcalfe, are welcome to ask about coverage during their free call. Availability depends on our therapists' schedules.

Where sessions take place

At home

Many rural families find home visits the simplest option. We can work on dressing, mealtimes, routines and play using your child's own space. Yards and open spaces can also be good places for movement and coordination activities.

At school

Children in Manotick and Greely attend schools in all four Ottawa boards: OCDSB, OCSB, CEPEO and CECCE. Some ride the bus to schools outside their own community. With the school's agreement and your consent, we can see your child during the school day. School visits suit goals like printing, cutting and staying organized in class.

At daycare

Where a daycare or home child care provider agrees, we can see younger children there. Goals often include play, early fine motor skills and preparing for kindergarten.

Online

Online sessions can save travel time for everyone. They can work well for handwriting practice, organization and parent coaching. They can also fill in when winter roads make travel hard.

What families often ask us about

Common reasons families get in touch include:

  • Fine motor skills. Pencil grip, cutting, buttons and other hand skills.

  • Motor coordination. Balance, ball skills, riding a bike and keeping up with friends at recess.

  • Sensory processing. Children who find certain sounds, textures or activities overwhelming.

  • Daily routines. Getting ready in the morning, mealtimes and bedtime.

No doctor's referral or diagnosis is needed.

How care works

  1. Free 15-minute call. Tell us about your child, and we will explain how we work.

  2. Initial OT assessment. We look at strengths and needs, and set goals together.

  3. A block of 10 sessions. Sessions are planned in a block so your child has consistent practice.

  4. A written debrief after each visit. You get a clear summary and ideas to try at home.

  5. Bingo Books. Custom OT activity guides in a bingo format, for practice between visits.

  6. Review. We check progress with you and agree on what comes next.

Notes for rural families

  • Planning visits. Travel to rural areas takes extra time, so we plan visits carefully. Sharing your available days early helps.

  • Mixing in-person and online. Some families combine home visits with online sessions. We can talk about what suits your child.

  • Outdoor practice. Bingo Book activities can make use of your yard, a local trail or a trip to the village.

  • Payment. We accept e-transfer only and provide a receipt for each payment. Many extended health plans cover OT.

  • French. French is available with some of our therapists.
