Occupational Therapy for Kids in Kanata
Ottawa OT brings paediatric occupational therapy to families in Kanata. Our registered occupational therapists visit children at home, at school or at daycare. We also offer online sessions.

You do not need to drive across the city for an appointment. We come to you.
Where we visit in Kanata
Kanata is a large community in Ottawa's west end. We see families across its neighbourhoods, including:
Bridlewood and Emerald Meadows
Glen Cairn and Trailwest
Katimavik-Hazeldean and Beaverbrook
Kanata Lakes, Morgan's Grant and Brookside
Briarbrook, Marchwood and Village Green
We also serve nearby Stittsville. If you live in the rural area north of Kanata, ask us about coverage during your free call.
Settings we visit
Your home
Many skills are easiest to practise where they happen. At home, we can work on getting dressed, morning routines, mealtimes and homework set-up. We use your child's own space, toys and furniture. That makes it easier to keep practising after we leave.
Your child's school
Families in Kanata are served by all four Ottawa school boards:
Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB)
Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB)
Conseil des écoles publiques de l'Est de l'Ontario (CEPEO)
Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est (CECCE)
Each school sets its own rules for outside providers. With the school's agreement and your consent, we can see your child during the school day. School visits suit goals like printing, cutting, desk posture and coping with a busy classroom. We can also share strategies with teachers, with your permission.
Daycare and preschool
Some younger children are seen at their daycare or preschool, where the centre agrees. This can help with play skills, transitions and getting ready for kindergarten.
Online
Virtual OT can suit some goals, such as handwriting practice, organization and parent coaching. Online sessions can also fill a gap during a busy week or a cold snap.
What families in Kanata often ask us about
Parents reach out for many reasons. Common ones include:
Handwriting and printing. Slow, messy or tiring printing is a frequent reason teachers suggest OT.
Sensory processing. Some children find noise, textures or crowds hard to manage. Others seek out lots of movement.
Motor coordination. Balance, ball skills and riding a bike can be harder for some kids. We use active play to build these skills.
Self-regulation. We help children and families find strategies for calmer days.
No diagnosis or referral is needed to start.
How care works
Free 15-minute call. Tell us what you are noticing. We explain how we work.
Initial OT assessment. We learn about your child's strengths and challenges, then set goals with you.
A planned 10-session block. We do not book single sessions. Steady practice over a block gives your child time to build skills.
A written debrief after every session. You always know what we worked on and what to try next.
Bingo Books. Custom OT activity guides, inspired by bingo, for practice between visits.
Review. We look at progress with you and decide on next steps together.
Practical notes for Kanata families
Scheduling. We plan visits by area, so tell us early which days and times work for your family.
Bingo Books close to home. Your child's Bingo Book activities can fit into things your family already does. That might be a walk on a local trail, a trip to the park or helping with groceries.
Payment. We accept e-transfer only and provide a receipt for each payment. Many extended health plans include OT, so check your policy.
French. French is available with some of our therapists. Let us know if you would like a French-speaking OT.
