Downtown and inner-city families often juggle tight schedules, transit and parking. Mobile OT brings therapy to your door.

Neighbourhoods we visit

We see families in central neighbourhoods such as:

  • Westboro

  • Vanier

  • Sandy Hill

  • New Edinburgh

  • Manor Park

  • Rockcliffe Park

If you live in another central neighbourhood, ask during your free call. We will let you know if we can visit.

Where sessions take place

At home

Therapy at home works in any kind of space, from a house to an apartment or condo. We bring what we need and use what you already have. Home visits are a good fit for dressing, mealtimes, routines and play.

At school

Central Ottawa has schools from all four boards: OCDSB, OCSB, CEPEO and CECCE, including French-language schools and French immersion programs. With the school's agreement and your consent, we can see your child during the school day. School goals often include printing, cutting, organization and coping with a busy classroom.

At daycare

With the centre's agreement, we can see younger children at daycare or preschool. We often work on play, early drawing and cutting, and moving between activities.

Online

Virtual sessions can work for handwriting practice, homework routines and coaching for parents. They are also useful in weeks when an in-person visit is hard to arrange.

Why families in central Ottawa contact us

Parents reach out for many reasons. Some common ones:

  • Handwriting and printing, in English or French.

  • Executive function, such as planning, starting tasks and keeping track of belongings.

  • Sensory processing, including children who find city noise or crowded places hard.

  • Self-care skills, like dressing, using utensils and managing a backpack and lunch.

No referral or diagnosis is needed to start.

How care works

  1. Free 15-minute call. Share what you are noticing, and we will explain our approach.

  2. Initial assessment. We learn about your child and set goals with you.

  3. A 10-session block. A planned block gives your child consistent practice over time.

  4. A written debrief after every session. You know what we did and what to try next.

  5. Bingo Books. Custom activity guides in a bingo format, for practice between visits.

  6. Progress review. We look at results together and plan the next step.

Good to know

  • Scheduling. We plan visits by part of the city. Letting us know your preferred times early helps.

  • Practice close to home. Bingo Book activities can happen at a neighbourhood park, on a walk to school or at the library.

  • Payment. E-transfer only, with a receipt for every payment. Many extended health plans include OT.

  • French. Some of our therapists offer sessions in French. Tell us if you would like a French-speaking OT.
